Capacity Building for Technical staff on Cassava in Cambodia Cassava is the second most important crops after rice in Cambodia. There have not been any cassava breeding programs yet in the country, so the major varieties growing in Cambodia are imported from neighboring countries such as Vietnam, Thailand and China.

In January, 2017 staff of Department of Industrial Crops had attended training on application of Internet of Things (IoT) in Agriculture - a case study to monitor the spread of devastating Cassava Mosaic Disease (CMD) in Cambodia. This training was organized at University of Battambang (UBB) in Battambang Province. From the training, all participants understood how to use Agribudy application tool (that’s one of IoT in Agriculture) to see where the CMD being occurred in Cambodia. These tools were also helped to identify symptoms of CMD and insect pests. After training course, all knowledge was spread to 15 staff in Department of Industrial Crops and 30 farmers in Kampong Cham Province. In 2014, staff of Department of Industrial Crops jointed a training course on Cassava Descriptors which was properly designed and identified comment cassava descriptors for indentifying cassava varieties in each country. The training course had provided both methodologies and practical skills for identifying cassava varieties which was growing in Cambodia were indentified. They were KU 50, Hauy Baung 60, KM 98-1, Rayong 90, Rayong 60, Rayong 72 and Rayong 4.
